How Can We Help?
Advanced scheduling in GP Agent lets you customize your tasks to run only at certain times of the day and specific days of the week.
Working within the capabilities of the Microsoft Dynamics GP DPS runtime engine, advanced scheduling works differently from schedules you might be used to, such as schedules in Windows or SQL Agent, so it’s important to understand the differences to allow you to best manage your tasks.
The DPS only understand interval schedules (e.g. every 1 day or every 15 minutes), so when you setup your schedule in GP Agent, you will still specify how frequently you want the task to run. Because the DPS does not allow date and time restrictions, you will regularly see activity on your DPS monitor where it appears a task is running, but GP Agent verifies each task so that it runs only when you want it to run.
For example, if you only want a posting task to run from 1am to 5am, you can assign the task to run every 2 hours but restrict the time from 1am to 5am. The DPS will submit the task for processing every two hours, but it will only actually post when the task runs between 1am and 5am.
Advanced scheduling was added to GP Agent for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 in build m15.
