How Can We Help?
If you need to install multiple Dynamics GP instances on a computer, you will not be able to use the .msi download to accomplish this. Instead, you will need to manually copy the appropriate files to the folders in which you have other Dynamics GP instances.
For AIT:
1. Complete the installation of AIT into your default GP installation instance (do not launch GP).
2. If you have already installed AIT, use the Repair option from the Control Panel Programs and Features or Install Programs applet to extract the .cnk file into the GP installation folder.
3. Copy the IC…cnk file from the default GP instance to the other GP instance.
4. Copy the \SQL\mc2 folder from the default GP instance to the other GP instance.
5. If each instance connects to a different SQL Server database, follow the instructions for a “First Workstation” or “Server” installation for each instance.
6. If each instance connects to the same SQL Server database, follow the instructions for a “First Workstation” or “Server” installation for only the default instance.
For GP Agent:
1. Complete the installation of GP Agent into your default GP installation instance (do not launch GP).
2. If you have already installed GP Agent, use the Repair option from the Control Panel Programs and Features or Install Programs applet to extract the .cnk file into the GP installation folder.
3. Copy the GPA…cnk file from the default GP instance to the other GP instance.
4. Copy the \SQL\mc2 folder from the default GP instance to the other GP instance, if that folder exists.
5. If each instance connects to a different SQL Server database, follow the instructions for a “First Workstation” or “Server” installation for each instance.
6. If each instance connects to the same SQL Server database, follow the instructions for a “First Workstation” or “Server” installation for only the default instance.
Note: If you had previously installed the Visions application and are updating to a new build, you will need to repeat this procedure if you want each instance to have the exact same build.
